Job opportunity: Field Sales Executive
About Bellfield:

At Bellfield Brewery, located in the historic brewing district of Abbeyhill, Edinburgh (just on the edge of the city centre), we’ve been on a mission since 2015 to craft exceptional beers that are also 100% vegan and gluten-free.

Bellfield was recognised as Scottish Brewery of the Year 2023 at the Scottish Beer Awards due to the consistent high performance of our beers across blind tastings for all categories. The chair of the judges also commented that Bellfield: “have a strong link with community and people, which is the very ethos that beer is based on”.

As the UK’s first dedicated gluten-free brewery, inclusion and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. With an exciting phase of growth on the horizon, we are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Field Sales Executive to join our team and help drive our expansion.

The Role:

We’re seeking a driven individual with a proven track record in field sales within the Scottish and UK drinks market. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of contacts within the Scottish (and ideally UK) on-trade and have experience of working closely with UK wholesalers. At Bellfield Brewery, company culture is paramount and if you’re passionate about craft beer and have the skills to build Bellfield’s presence through strategic sales growth, we’d love to hear from you!

Salary:

From £30,000 pa depending on experience.

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years in sales role within the on-trade.

Location:

A field based role, with 4 days out in trade per week being the expectation. 1 day per week will be available for admin and this can be done either from home or from the brewery. Broadly speaking, the time spent in the field will predominantly be in Edinburgh and the surrounding area but Glasgow and the Central Belt of Scotland (and potentially further afield) will be a requirement.

Working Hours:

Full-time, permanent role 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. On occasions some flexibility will be required to work evenings or weekends when representing Bellfield at industry or trade events.

Benefits:
  • Company Pension
  • 31 Days Holiday (22 Days & 9 Public Holidays)
  • Staff Discount in Taproom / Online
  • Performance related incentives
Key Responsibilities:
  • Growth of Existing Customers: Develop the relationship Bellfield has with existing direct delivery accounts. Determine customer requirements and present compelling proposals to increase volume and drive profitable sales.
  • Customer Acquisition & Business Development: We have had significant success in securing direct delivery partnerships with pubs, bars and restaurants over the last 18 months driving high double digit year-on-year growth. This will remain a key focus moving forward. Allied to this we will be seeking to strengthen our partnerships with wholesalers to expand and develop further distribution through these channels.
  • Collaboration with Management: Work with the management team on business strategy and operations.
  • Sales Reporting: Regularly update the management team on sales contacts, active proposals for listings and report against weekly and monthly sales KPIs.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • An understanding and also a willingness to learn more about the brewery sales environment covering wholesalers, leased, managed and independent free of trade operations as well as hospitality groups.
  • A practical knowledge and experience of small pack, cask and keg beer.
  • Proven experience selling directly to pubs, hotels and restaurants, whilst nurturing on-trade wholesalers. Field sales work will form a large part of this role as we continue to prioritise draught distribution.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience of communicating effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and prioritise a busy workload, managing multiple projects in parallel and seeing them successfully through to completion.
  • Tenacity and commitment aligned with strong negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Maintained customer contact records with a proficiency in CRM systems (we use Copper CRM) and experience with financial and sales reporting and forecasting.
  • Experience of preparing and presenting high quality business proposals.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience of hosting trade tastings and acting as a brand ambassador.
  • Ability to develop and implement company sales and marketing plans.
  • A “can-do” attitude - as a fast growing business we are seeking a flexible, collaborative approach from an individual who is comfortable taking the initiative.
  • A valid UK driving license.
