On The Roll Food Pop Up at Bellfield Taproom
On The Roll was established in 2012 by two Germans whilst studying at University in Edinburgh. They missed the Bratwurst sorely and realised quickly something needed to be done. The idea of the German Street Food stall was born. A tiny BBQ-tricycle, custom built in Germany, and a street trading license in Edinburgh got Sabrina and Lennart started in serving Germany’s finest Bratwurst to all the hungry Bratwurst Lovers in town.
They have a great relationship with their Bratwurst supplier, Daniel, and his team from the Münsterland region in Germany. Daniel, a big fan of Scotland himself, organises yearly Scottish Highland games in his hometown Bad Iburg in Germany, and shares Lennart and Sabrina’s idea of offering traditional, delicious, quality food. He makes sure all of On the Roll’s products are sourced locally and produced to the highest quality standards.
For the next two weeks, On the Roll will be serving up authentic and delicious Bratwursts including a vegan option, and of course the all-time favourite – the big Currywurst.
The menu will include:
Bratwurst - Germany’s most popular BBQ sausage features a mix of finely ground pork mince and mild spices which gives it a unique taste and texture.*
Krakauer - Krakauer is an increasingly popular slightly smoky, cured pork sausage. Its coarser meat is seasoned with mustard seeds, spices and a fine note of garlic creating a delicious savoury flavour. *
Cheese Krakauser - as above, with a delicious filling of cheese. Enjoy the beautifully balanced combination of smoky pork and melting Gouda in every bite.*
Vegan Sausage: This completely plant-based German Bratwurst has a classic sausage texture and shape. Slightly smoky with a hint of pea, onion and garlic. *
*Gluten-free options available.
So if you’re feeling sad about not being able to get away with a bunch of mates to Berlin or you missed out on Oktoberfest, come by and grab a beer and sausage combo this weekend - we’ve got lots to choose from.
On the Roll is serving at Bellfield Taproom and Beer Garden Thursday 23rd Sept - 3rd of October with gluten free and vegan option available.
